2. DHCP provides a message: In this message, the server will respond to the host, providing the host with the unleased IP address and other TCP setup details. The server broadcasts this message. The client host will take the first DHCP OFFER message it gets if there are many DHCP servers available in the network.
3. DHCP request message: A client broadcasts a DHCP request message in response to receiving an offer message. The client will perform a free ARP to see if any other hosts with the same IP address are present in the network.
4. DHCP acknowledgment message: The server will create an entry with a given client ID and bind the IP address provided with a lease time in response to the request message it has received. The client will now have the IP address that the server has provided.
5. DHCP negative acknowledgment message: A DHCP server will send a DHCP Nak message to the client whenever it gets a request for an IP address that is not legitimate based on the scopes that have been set up.
6. DHCP decline: The DHCP client sends a DHCP decline message to the server if it decides that the given configuration settings are different or invalid.
7. DHCP release: To release the IP address and end any remaining lease period, a DHCP client sends a DHCP release packet to the server.
8.DHCP inform: If a client address has manually acquired an IP address, the client utilizes DHCP notify to receive additional local configuration details, such as a domain name. The DHCP server creates a DHCP ack message in response to the DHCP notify message without issuing a new IP address and with a local configuration appropriate for the client.
